Meridian Exhibition to Visit Turkey for September 11
The Turkish Times, August 22, 2002 - Meridian International Center in Washington DC announced today that its exhibition True Colors: Meditations on the American Spirit will visit the Topkapi Palace Museum in Istanbul, opening on September 11, 2002. It will subsequently be shown in Ankara, before returning to the United States for an Atlanta, Georgia venue in late October. Presentation in Turkey is in cooperation with the US Consulate and the Istanbul Art Foundation.

Houston Gears Up for 12th Annual Turkish Festival

It's time to enjoy the Turkish Festival in Houston once again. On October 12, Jones Plaza will be alive with the sights, sounds and aromas of Turkey. Folk-dancers, a grand bazaar, live popular music, and genuine Turkish food and drinks are only some of the attractions on hand. This is the 12th annual celebration of Turkish culture, and every year this festival only gets larger.

Farewell to Chicago's Consul General Yavuz Aktas
Sel Erder Yackley, The Turkish Times Midwest Correspondent - More than a dozen parties have been organized to honor Yavuz and Fatos Aktas in the Chicago area during August in appreciation of their efforts on behalf of Turkey. In addition to lunches, dinner and other small gatherings in honor of one half or the other of this active and highly respected couple, Turkish American Cultural Alliance TACA members honored them at a dinner party at A La Turka restaurant.

Over 15,000 visitors enjoyed the Turkish Arts and Culture, by savoring the delicious Turkish dishes, listening to the live Turkish music, watching and participating in the Turkish folk dances, and visiting the exhibit and vendor booths. Dilek Sabanci Honored with Special Olympics Award
