A Quarter of Century of Nizam's Restaurant

Major Exhibition of Turkish Carpet-Weaving on View
The Turkish Times
- "The Classical Tradition in Anatolian Carpets" opens September 13, 2002 and runs through February 16, 2003 at The Textile Museum. The exhibition includes more than 50 outstanding carpets and gives visitors an opportunity to explore the artistry of an enduring tradition that has been the subject of wonder and admiration in both the East and West for many centuries. In addition to carpets from The Textile Museum's collections, the exhibition will include loans from The Metropolitan Museum of Art, The Jewish Museum, and several leading private collectors. The exhibition is guest-curated by Walter B. Denny, Professor of Art History at the University of Massachusetts, Amherst, and accompanied by a handsome full-color catalogue now available through The TM Shop:www.textilemuseumshop.org

The Textile Museum is located at 2320 S Street, NW, Washington, DC. Hours are Monday - Saturday 10 am to 5 pm and Sunday 1 to 5 pm. Admission is free; suggested donation is $5.00.

Turkish Handicrafts Exhibition in Baltimore, MD

- You are cordially invited to an exhibition of Turkish handicrafts at Lucinda's Gallery, 929 South Charles Street, Baltimore, near Baltimore's Inner Harbor. The exhibition runs from Saturday, August 31st through Saturday, October 26th. This exhibition features items selected during a recent visit to Turkey, along with items brought over by Turkish-Americans living in the area. Most items are for sale, at reasonable prices. AYNA in Chicago!-October 4, 2002
TACA proudly presents Turkey's favorite pop/rock band AYNA on Friday, October 4 at 8:30 pm in Chicago. The concert is going to take place at the ATHENAEUM Theatre (2936 North Southport Ave. Tel:773-935-6860) located right across Demir Cafe.

The tickets are going to be out for sale on Friday, September 13, 2002 at Ticketmaster outlets, ticketmaster.com and Athenaeum Theatre box office. The tickets are $25 general admission and $20 for students. However if the tickets are to be purchased through ticketmaster there will be a service charge along with the ticket price.
