7th Boston Turkish Festival Opens with Turkish Republic Day Celebrations
The Turkish Times - 7th Boston Turkish Festival (BTF), which takes place annually between October 29 - November since 1996, was opened with a proud and joyful celebration of the 79th anniversary of the Turkish Republic. Celebrations began with a flag-raising ceremony in the city center, at Boston City Hall Plaza. Turkish folk dance performances by Collage Dance Ensemble added spirit to readings of the Turkish Republic Day proclamations, messages and raising of the Turkish flag. TACS-New England's "Cumhuriyet Bayrami" celebration continued with Turkish Republic Night with joyful music of Yeliz-Bilgehan-Cem and Turkish hits spinned by DJ Seyhan. FTAA, New York, NY - Cumhuriyetimizin 79. yilini kutlamak uzere duzenlenen torenlerin ilki Rhode Island'da gerceklesti. Rhode Island Turk-Amerikan Dernegi'nin Rhode Island Eyalet Meclisi'nde duzenledigi torene New York Baskonsoloslugunu temsilen Konsolos Hatun Demirer, Turk Amerikan Dernekleri Federasyonu Genel Direktoru Evren Ay, Turkish Forum Baskan Yardimcisi Robert Mc Kay, Guney New England Turk-Amerikan Dernegi Baskani Bulent Dogruyol ve Brown Universitesi Turk Ogrenci Dernegi Baskani Ayse Demirel konusmaci olarak katildi.

Cumhuriyet Bayrami kutlama toreni Rhode Island muhafiz alayinin Amerikan ve Turk marsi seremonisi ile basladi. Yapilan konusmalarda Cumhuriyet bayraminin onemi ve Turkiye-ABD iliskileri vurgulandi.

Rhode Island eyaletinde ilk kez duzenlenen Cumhuriyet Bayrami kutlama toreni hakkinda Rhode Island Turk-Amerikan Dernegi Baskani Serife Hathaway eyaletlerinde ilk kez Cumhuriyet Bayramini Eyalet meclisinde kutlamanin kendilerine buyuk bir mutluluk verdigini ve Rhode Island'da kurulacak olan Heritage Harbor muzesinde Turk unsurlarinin ve kulturunun de tanitilmasi icin destege ihtiyaclari oldugunu vurguladi.

Cumhuriyet Bayrami toreni bolgede yasayan Ermeniler tarafindan protesto edildi. Hazirladiklari sozde Ermeni Soykirimi ile ilgili pankartlarini Eyalet Meclisi onunde acma girisiminde bulunan Ermeni gurubu, Amerikan polisinin mudahale etmesi ile bolgeden uzaklastirildi.

29 Ekim New York'da Buyuk Bir Coskuyla Kutlandi
FTAA, New York - Turk Amerikan Dernek-leri Federasyonu tarafindan duzenlenen Cumhu-riyet Bayrami Balosu, 26 Ekim Cumartesi aksami New York Hilton otelinde buyuk bir cosku icinde kutlandi.

New York Hilton otelinin Trianon salonunda duzenlenen balo, Turk Amerikan Dernekleri Federasyonu Baskan Vekili Sayin Kayaalp Buyukataman'in acilis konusmasi ile basladi.

New York'a yeni tayin olan Baskonsolos Sayin Omer Onhon'un Turk toplumuna yaptigi konusmanin ardindan, North Little Rock, Arkansas Belediye Baskani Sayin Patrick Hayes, sehrinde kurulacak olan Atatürk Dostluk muzesi hakkinda bilgi verdi. Belediye Baskani Hayes'e, Turkiye ve Amerika arasindaki iliskileri gelistirmek icin yaptigi ugraslara tesekkur amaci ile Federasyon Baskan Vekili Kaya Buyukataman ve Baskonsolos Omer Onhon tarafindan bir tesekkur plaketi sunuldu.

Gecenin onur konugu olan, ve 1970 senesinden beri Hurriyet gazetesinin Birlesmis Milletler ve Amerika Merkez burosu sefligini yuruten Sayin Dogan Uluc'a Turk Amerikan Dernekleri Federasyonu "Omur Boyu Basari" odulu sunuldu.

Cumhuriyet Bayrami kutlama balosu Turkiye'den geceye konuk olarak katilan katilan Ali ve Aysun Kocatepe'nin soyledigi sarkilar ile renklendi. Unlu cifte eslik eden katilimcilar gec saatlere kadar dans pistinden inmediler.

What did Mr. Ergun do to the Armenians?: Nothing.
Why was Mr. Ergun murdered?:
Because he was born as a Turk.
May he rest in God's eternal peace. May his murderers one day face God's perfect justice even if they escape the imperfect human justice on this earth.
