ATAA and Turkish NGOs Support Turkey’s EU Membership
Turkish groups visit EU Embassies in Washington D.C.
The Turkish Times - In support of Turkey's accession into the European Union, Washington-based Turkish and Turkish/American non-governmental organizations paid visits in Washington D.C. to the Embassies of EU member countries.

Participating in these visits were representatives of the ARI Foundation, the American Turkish Council (ATC), the Assembly of Turkish American Associations (ATAA), Turkish American Business Forum, Turkish Industrialist's and Businessmen's Association (TUSIAD-US) and the Turkish-US Business Council of DEIK.

During these visits, the group voiced the support of these NGO's for Turkey's EU accession and urged for a starting date for accession negotiations to be given to Turkey at the Copenhagen Summit. At the same time, the visits also provided an opportunity to learn about the different positions and perspectives of EU member countries vis-a-vis Turkey's membership application.

The group has already held productive meetings with the Ambassadors of Belgium, Finland and Greece and with the First Counselor of the Embassy of Austria. Other meetings are scheduled to take place over the course of the next weeks leading up to the Dec 12 Copenhagen Summit.
