Hisarönü, Turkey is Waiting for You
The Turkish Times, Photo by Dursun Ozden / Varan Magazine - Hisaronu Village, which used to be called Erene in the past, is a lovely Mediterranean resort town in Marmaris, Mugla Province of Turkey. Reaching Hisaronu is easy: you take the plane to Dalaman International Airport in Mugla and move on by land or sea to Marmaris. Once you are there, Hisaronu Village is another 16 km. down the road by Marmaris-Datca or Marmaris-Bozburun shuttle taxis. The village was saved the ravages of fast modernization and preserved in its original cozy personality when it was declared a historic site.

Hisaronu, an increasingly popular target for domestic and foreign tourists, is an ideal place to spend your vacation this summer if the sun and the sea, friendly local folks and excellent home cooking, wind surfing and catamaran racing is your thing. The UCPA- Outdoors and Water Sports Center, for example, offers not only water sports but mountain hiking, mountain bicycling, rock climbing and more. There are other hotels, motels, "caravan parks" (for mobile homes), gorgeous bed-and-breakfast (B&B) establishments to accommodate every budget and taste. An increasing number of foreigners are settling in Hisaronu for good, given the fantastic year-around weather, gorgeous blue waters and ever-present sunshine, a lush mountainous landscape complete with mature palms and exotic flowers, plenty historic sites of interest, very favorable rates for foreign currency, and an easy-going and pleasant pace of life.
